Mushroom Immune with Beta Glucans
30 vegetarian capsules
Item Catalog Number: 02426
This formula uses three different immune system-supportive mushrooms plus a highly specialized ß-glucan polysaccharide from yeast to help maintain the balance between the different aspects of immune function—which in turn helps your body mount a healthy and effective immune response.1,4
ß-glucans are polysaccharides: soluble dietary fibers found in baker’s yeast, mushrooms and oats. They help activate your immune system’s primary defenders: macrophages, neutrophils, and natural killer cells, and help your immune system to react faster and smarter when faced with challenges.1,4
ß-glucans are well-recognized for their ability to promote a healthy immune response—a reputation that research now confirms. Several clinical studies have shown the immune promoting benefits of ß-glucans.1,5-9
Although beta glucans are found in small amounts in foods such as baker’s yeast, mushrooms, and cereal grains, it is easier to achieve clinically studied levels with a daily supplement.
Benefits at a glance:
Mushroom Immune with Beta Glucans provides a variety of immune-modulating natural substances including three well-recognized immune health supporting mushrooms, as well as Wellmune®–a best-in-class beta-glucan ingredient from yeast, with numerous clinical studies backing its immune-supportive properties.4-9
You probably have heard of shiitake and maitake mushrooms, but did you know that they are highly recognized for their immune benefits? We also added the lesser known but equally impressive chaga mushroom. This combination provides nearly one and a half servings of fresh mushrooms to support your healthy immune response.1-3
Our experts evaluated more than 14 ß-glucan ingredients from various sources, and when all was said and done, Wellmune® stood above the pack because this patented ß-glucan from baker's yeast had the most clinical support for promoting the body’s healthy immune response.4-9

Beta-glucans are complex polysaccharides found in mushroom cell walls that have powerful immune-modulating properties. Unlike simple sugars, beta-glucans have a specific molecular structure that immune cells recognize as foreign, triggering beneficial immune responses without causing inflammation or overstimulation. Research shows beta-glucans bind to receptors on immune cells, activating macrophages, natural killer cells, and neutrophils to enhance immune surveillance and response.
This formula combines multiple mushroom species, each with unique immune-supporting compounds. Shiitake contains lentinan, a beta-glucan that enhances T-cell and natural killer cell activity. Maitake provides D-fraction beta-glucans that support macrophage activation. Reishi offers ganoderic acids and polysaccharides with immune-modulating and adaptogenic properties. Turkey tail contains PSK and PSP compounds extensively studied for immune support.
While eating whole mushrooms provides benefits, extraction concentrates the active beta-glucans and makes them more bioavailable. Mushroom cell walls are made of chitin, which humans cannot digest. Hot water extraction breaks down chitin, releasing beta-glucans in a form your body can absorb. The concentrated extracts in supplements provide therapeutic amounts difficult to obtain from diet alone.
Mushroom beta-glucans work best as ongoing immune maintenance rather than acute intervention. Daily use helps prime immune cells for optimal function. Unlike echinacea which is used short-term, mushroom extracts can be used continuously for long-term immune support. Many people use them throughout cold and flu season or year-round.
Mushroom extracts are very well-tolerated. These mushrooms have been consumed safely for centuries in traditional medicine. Some people experience mild digestive adjustment when first starting, which typically resolves quickly. People with mushroom allergies should obviously avoid. Those with autoimmune conditions or on immunosuppressants should consult healthcare providers.
